A chain of restaurants across Norway — with no centralised invoice handling
Umoe Catering runs a chain of restaurants and cafés across Norway. The company needed a centralised purchasing system to control the supply chain for all outlets — including supplier invoice processing. Over 100,000 invoices arrive every year in three different formats: paper, XML, and EDIFACT. To maintain a real-time view of their financial position, Umoe needed all of them captured and processed automatically.
Purchase orders were automated. Invoice processing was not
The majority of supplier invoices originate from transactions processed through the procurement portal Attento. Attento automatically generates purchase orders in Solution One, Umoe Catering’s business application. This existing flow became the starting point for a tailor-made Next solution.
Automatic three-way-match across every invoice
Next automatically performs a complete three-way-match: goods received against the purchase order, and the invoice against both. If any discrepancy is detected, the invoice routes automatically to the person responsible — anywhere in Norway. The solution is browser-based, so exceptions can be handled from any location without installing software.
Umoe came for invoice processing. They stayed for the document infrastructure
With Next we got much more than a simple invoice processing application, we got a foundation for our entire document infrastructure. The fact that it runs as a zero-install browser application, and integrates seamlessly with our business application, didn’t hurt either.
