That's the problem the Next MCP server solves.
What it is
MCP — Model Context Protocol — is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to another system and work with the content in it. If your AI tool supports MCP, it can connect to Next.
That means Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and any MCP client can search the content you already manage in Next. With your existing permissions and governance still in place.
Restricted documents stay restricted
This is the part that matters most. The AI tool can only see what the user can already see in Next. Via OAuth, it inherits that user's existing permissions — right down to the individual document.
Your team can ask questions about the documents they're already allowed to open. Nothing more.
Nothing leaves Next
The AI tool reads your documents directly in Next. Nothing is copied, exported, or stored anywhere else. And your documents are never used to train the model.
Answers from the original — not a copy
Next holds one classified original of every document. AI answers come from that original — the correct document, the correct version. Not from "Contract v4 - FINAL.pdf" sitting on a file share, or copies scattered across local folders.
More reliable answers. With the controls you already trust.
The audit trail is ready before anyone asks
Next records which AI tool opened which document. So when a regulator asks what the AI accessed, you already have the answer.
